Pooling their interests and blending their differences, the duo waxed E-culture`s "Tribal Confusion" for respected New York based indie label, Strictly Rhythm. The record was a surprising commercial success and established both DJs as artists to watch on the global dance music scene. After forming Ovum Recordings as an independent label in October 1994 with partner King Britt, Josh recorded the cult classic "Liquid Summer". He went on to release singles for a wide variety of revered European labels ranging from Belgium`s R & S to England`s XL. He also began remixing for Moby and others. 1995 was an especially good year for Josh. He scored 3 consecutive European smashes - all out of his modest 16-track bedroom studio - which unquestionably took dance music to a dizzying plateau. First came "Don`t Laugh" - recorded as Winx and issued via Nervous Records - where Josh took a minimal techno beat and looped an incessant sample of a whacko laughing his head off. It was a stroke of sheer genius. The single broke down international language barriers and eventually sold more than 500,000 units. Invitations to spin at prestigious nightspots all over the world have been pouring in since, but as his career has progressed, he has stayed true to his roots, never selling out and always maintaining his integrity, always coming home to his beloved Philadelphia. They produce house music that’s inseparable from the genre’s tradition but comes with both a widescreen ambition and a distinctly US underground edge. They can turn any dj booth into an infectious live show that seamlessly blurs the boundaries between dj-ing and playing live. They draw from a huge collection of custom loops, tracks and sounds which were generated during their studio sessions in the past 2 years, along with original material (the last remaining element of dj-ing in the show), however, everything is manipulated, morphed, re-arranged and treated on the fly. David Potts-Dupre CD Release at IMT Takoma Park

Available at http://www.imtfolk.org/ "They Speak at Night," David Potts-Dupre’s latest CD, is music that refuses to be pigeon-holed—pulling from Folk, Country, Blues, Americana, story-telling, Rock and even spoken word genres. With thirteen original songs that run the gamut from ballads, ghost stories, songs of love and relationships, blues rock, rabble rousing labor song, songs of death and songs of life, this CD will appeal to lovers of real acoustic music. David sometimes describes himself as a “rediscovery artist”, a singer and musician who has played for decades, but only surfaced as a professional songwriter and performer in his mid-fifties. The first two songs, Just Like You and Bittersweet, are prime examples of how Potts-Dupre uses his life and relationships-–in this case as a father of two daughters--to paint poignant stories of a father being reminded of his late wife while watching his daughter run in a cornfield or of having mixed emotions of joy and sadness during his daughter’s wedding. Potts-Dupre also writes about love and marriage from the rare perspective of someone who has been married for thirty seven years. I Will and Do You Remember, Livy provide guidance on how to stay in such a relationship. Come Be With Me, a duet with Rose Parkington backed on violin and vocals from the Parkington Sisters, is a simple heartfelt love story. There is something for everyone on this CD – a haunting ghost story (The Boy on Dismal Hollow Road), a hard driving blues-rock song about sadness and love (Down While Uptown) and a song about our ancestors guiding us in our dreams (They Speak At Night). A particularly emotional song is Music for Mom based on Potts-Dupre’s mother’s Alzheimers’ and how music would waken her and bring her joy. The documentarian Rossato-Bennett, whose film Alive Inside which deals with music and Alzheimers, plans to use the song to promote his film. Finally, there is Join the Union, Joe, where union members try to convince a non-union worker of the value of the union. Karen Collins (WAMA 2012 Country Vocalist and artist of award-winning CD No Yodeling on the Radio) sings as one of the union members. This song is especially meaningful since Potts-Dupre has been a union lawyer for twenty-eight years. The new CD was produced by Steve Seckler and David Potts-Dupre, recorded at Asparagus Media Studios in Takoma Park, MD and mastered by GRAMMY® winning Charlie Pilzer at Airshow Mastering also in Takoma Park. Many musical friends provided unique contributions to individual songs – the Parkington Sisters, Karen Collins, Heather Aubrey Lloyd, Mindy McWilliams, Kristen Jones and more. Supported by a stellar band with John Previti on bass, Paul Garisto on drums and Steve Steckler on guitar and what seems like everything else under the sun, these songs speak volumes. read more

Say wha? 10pm, $10 door, 18+ Tickets: http://bit.ly/ROBOT523 SHIT ROBOT In the early ‘90s, Dublin, Ireland native Marcus Lambkin moved to New York, where he ingrained himself in the club scene as a DJ with a number of residencies. It wasn’t until 2006, however, after he had moved to Stuttgart, Germany and aligned with LCD Soundsystem`s James Murphy for a party dubbed Shit Robot that he began producing and remixing under that name -- a reference to Murphy’s poor drawing skills. From April 2006 through March 2010, Lambkin released four left-field house singles -- mutations of electro, deep house, classic Detroit techno, and old-school rave -- on Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy`s DFA label. He also remixed tracks by Dondolo, Kaos, Simian Mobile Disco, Idioma, and the likeminded Juan Maclean. Unsurprisingly, the output raised Lambkin’s profile as a DJ, and he began to gig all over the planet.
